Ghost of Monkshood

Chase Spivey (Voice, Guitar) found a flyer in the autumn of 2001 at a Norman, OK record store. On this flyer was an image of a squid-submarine-castle soaring majestically through the night sky-sea. The band seeking members was Gaea Spore, where Chase met future sound-crafting partner Chris McDaniel (Voice, Guitar, Banjo, Trumpet). Two years later, after the band had dissolved and both Chris and Chase had taken journeys around the world by way of couchsurfing, plane, train, bike & bus, they decided to start a new recording project together. Three albums were produced in the winter of 2003, then Chris & Chase were urged to construct a live ensemble to perform these songs that were quickly gaining notoriety in their community. During this time, Ghost of Monkshood as a fully functioning and touring band was born. Chris and Chase got more serious about the recording process and 2005's phantom-folk epic "Spider Through the Fog" was the result (7.3-Pitchforkmedia.com).
