Linda Cowan


SELF PORTRAIT

 

Linda Cowan grew up appreciating the wonderful scenery, lakes and landscape that Oklahoma has to offer and absolutely loves her State. In 1890, her Great Grandparents settled near Navajo in Old Greer County, Texas, now Jackson County, Oklahoma. Her family has seventh generation Oklahomans!  

Linda studied at Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, California, Humanities at Oklahoma University. Her artwork has won awards and been reviewed in various regional media including the Lawton Constitution and Norman Living Magazine. And, she serves as Jury/Judge in various Art Shows in the Region. Linda travels and paints in Idaho, Wyoming and New Mexico.

Linda works in clay on the wheel, handbuilding as well as sculpture. Her latest project is creating beautiful High Relief Portraits in clay. She adds historical as well as mythical or fantasy aspects to these portraits.

Linda teaches art at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art and has held classes at the Norman Firehouse Arts Center, Edmond Fine Arts Centre, and served as an Artist in Resident with the Oklahoma Arts Council.
