Ginger Barton

"Ancient Shore", "Erosion Maze", and "Erosion View" are examples of "Erosion Design Series" designed and painted by Ellen "Ginger" Barton, a Norman resident and artist. "Erosion Design Series" is the artist's combination of design and land erosion using fractals found in fossils, mineral samples, shells, driftwood embedded in or suspended above the landscape. Out of nature's chaos emerge patterns which inspire at different scales, connections, especially between what is missing, what has been worn away by the winds and waters of the passing of time and what remains.

Ginger Barton graduated from Oklahoma College for Women with a BA in art education. Later she traveled to Instituto Allende, San Miguel de Allende, Gto, Mexico for graduate study. She taught in public schools in Oklahoma and Texas. Since retirement she enjoys traveling in the southwest devoting time to painting "Erosion Design Series" both in oil and watercolor.
