Paul Mays
Paul Mays has only recently burst onto the art scene but his career is quickly making headway and headlines. This newcomer artist, originally from the Blanchard area, identifies his childhood as the period that fostered his everlasting love for art and nature. Living in the "Sticks" nurtured little Paul's impressionable soul and provided him with great respect for this natural atmosphere. 2003 was an accomplished year for Paul, he received his BFA from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, where he learned as much as the school's name is long and completed his degree with honors. Oklahoma Visual Art Coalition's Momentum 2007, launched Mays face forward into the art world. In the period of a few months, Mays was able to position his work in numerous private collections and earn multiple Honorable Mentions for his work in IAO's Edge Art Now and USAO's Seven State Biennial. In addition, his work in Artifacts' Square Show procured him a Duo Show Award and he was included as one of five artist chosen for Mainsite's Emergent Artist 2007. In February 2009, Mays exhibited over 40 works at the University of Science and Arts in Chickasha, in a solo show titled, Neither Created Nor Destroyed.
