Diana J. Smith is an artist working in acrylic/mixed media, an art doll artist and a mask maker. Owner of a graphic design firm, Designsmith, Inc. since 1984.
My passion is painting dogs. Not only because of their beautiful form, but because of the magic behind their eyes.
I see in dogs a quiet dignity.
I see trust, loyalty, humor and patience.
Humans have an ancient contract with dogs, a special relationship. We allow them total freedom within our homes. It is a sobering thought that dogs are often more trustworthy, reliable and loyal than humans. They unswervingly fulfill their half of the age old bargain, and shame us by their conduct.
My goal is to capture the spirit or essence of a moment in time and express that through vibrant color and minimal detail, eliminate the unnecessary.
