John Pollard

Drawing is among John Pollard's earliest memories and it has never been far from his hand regardless of what he happens to be doing at the time. Even in the Marines as soon as they discovered that he could draw they called on him to create flags, emblem, and even T-shirts. Earning a bachelor’s degree in fine art from Troy University while a single parent of two great kids is his best achievement. Since then he has drawn and painted hundreds of portraits of just about every conceivable subject from people and pets to cars and buildings. Most of his pieces live in private collections while some are in public areas like the Fort Smith, Mayor’s office, the University of Oklahoma, and Troy University, Saint Edward’s Hospital of Fort Smith. You may spot a portrait of his even in a place like Western Sizzlin’. Portraiture has always been a passion for him due to the reactions of his clients. Even years after a commission many people claim how moved they are by his sensitivity to expression and of how he always manages to capture that certain something of the subject.
However, he is not limited to portraiture. He designs websites and he will paint on almost anything. John has been known to do murals, carousel horses, even the fancy stuff on the walls and ceiling of the Representative’s Chambers in the Oklahoma State Capitol building! He's drawn illustrations for video documentaries and designed logos. Although he does not consider himself a photographer, He has always had his hand on a camera, and took every photography class offered at OU, Troy and he has even studied a bit at the New York Photography Inst. Just so he could do his own photography work and tinker around with it. John is not an artist who follows the "Art Festival" route although he does occasionally enter local competitions with his drawings and photos with great success.
His favorite hobby is playing lead and rhythm guitar for his "RoseWood" (which, btw is available for bookings...)
