Almira E. Grammer

In my art, I eliminate many of the details and illuminate my subject matter with unexpected color."

Almira E. Grammer won her first ribbon at the age of 8 when her elementary school art instructor entered her pen and ink drawing in the State Fair school art competition. She continued to develop her skills by attending workshops and participating in art events, working primarily in charcoal, pen and ink, pencil and colored pencil. She still works in charcoal and colored pencil for quick studies, but her finished work is acrylic.

Throughout the years, she has participated in many art competitions in several states, including Oklahoma, where she has won many awards, including best of show.

Almira graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a BA and MA in English. She is a member of the Firehouse Art Center, the Oklahoma Art Guild, and the Oklahoma Arts Coalition.
